You know that feeling you get the first time you spill something in your new car? You’re driving down the road, and the drink flies from your hand creating a wet sticky mess on your floor board. You probably stopped to clean up it pretty quickly, but do you remember what happened the fifth time you spilled in the car? Overtime, wear and tear starts to seem like a natural part of life. When it comes to a few small stains on your floorboard or passenger seat, this wear and tear is likely not all too important, and probably pretty easily remedied with a thorough cleaning. Unfortunately, many people have a similar relationship with their smile. Overtime stains, chips, and cracks that didn’t seem important become more prevalent as several minor smile irregularities add together completely changing a smile. Luckily, Dr. Scott Grivas and our Sacramento dental team offer a stunning solution, porcelain veneers.
Who should consider Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are an excellent, minimally invasive smile enhancement option for patients who wish to fix multiple smile flaws quickly and effectively. Veneers conceal chips, cracks, gaps, discoloration, and crowding making smiles appear seamless. Patients should consider porcelain veneers if they:
- Have multiple minor flaws to conceal
- Want to improve their smile but are not able to undergo extensive restorative or cosmetic dentistry procedures
- Wish to transform their smile quickly with minimal discomfort
The Dental Veneers Process
The first step in any cosmetic dentistry procedure is visiting our office for a consultation. Dr. Grivas examines smiles, takes x-rays, and captures digital images. Using this information, the dentist consults with patients to develop a treatment plan that creates the smile they want. If porcelain veneers are the right option, your dentist designs the new smile. We encourage patients to bring photos of smiles they like, leaf through our Las Vegas Institute smile album, or review our before and after images on the website. Dr. Grivas has extensive cosmetic dentistry training, and helps patients determine what veneer style, color, size, and shape will complement their overall appearance and bite health.
Once a patients’ smile is designed, the dentist sends the materials to our LVI-certified lab where a custom appliance is prepared. Before making the final version, the lab crafts a provisional version patients wear after teeth are prepared to get used to the look and feel of their veneers as the final product is made. The permanent veneers are custom-crafted from stain-resistant dental grade porcelain, and are thin sheaths resembling egg shells. Once the final veneers arrive in our Sacramento dental office, patients return for placement. The temporary veneers are removed, and the permanent set is bonded in their place. From consultation to completion, patients can have a brand new smile in less than a month.
